Digital Energy Management Platform with White Label Enablement

1. Executive Summary  

PIT Solutions partnered with Stromkonto to develop and evolve a cloud-based energy management platform that enables households, businesses, and energy providers to monitor, analyze, and optimize energy consumption and generation in real time through connected WhatWatt IoT devices. The platform provides comprehensive insights into energy production, consumption, grid feed-in, and energy balances via a feature rich mobile application and administrative dashboard. 

As Stromkonto expanded its business, PIT Solutions transformed the platform from a single brand application into a scalable multi tenant whitelabel solution, enabling energy providers and partner organizations to launch their own branded energy management applications while leveraging the same secure backend infrastructure, IoT ecosystem, and operational processes. 

This transformation allows partners to be onboarded rapidly without building separate platforms, while benefiting from automated tenant management, revenue sharing, invoicing, branded communications, and role based administration. As a result, Stromkonto successfully evolved from a single brand energy management solution into a scalable platform that supports multiple partners, creates new revenue opportunities, reduces operational complexity, and provides a future ready foundation for continued business growth.   

2. The Situation & Challenge (Before)  

Stromkonto was originally created as a one brand energy management portal for a specific audience. As Stromkonto expanded, there was a desire to work with external energy providers and other organizations who wanted to offer a similar energy management service under their own brand.  

However, several challenges existed:  

  • The platform supported only a single tenant and brand.  

  • Customer onboarding, invoicing, and communications were tightly coupled with the Stromkonto brand.  

  • Revenue-sharing models for partners could not be managed automatically.  

  • Stripe and Bexio integrations were not designed to support multiple business entities.  

  • Separate mobile applications and branding would require maintaining multiple codebases.  

  • Partner organizations needed to only see their own customers.  

  • Data security and privacy was a must.  

  • Future scalability required onboarding multiple partners without significant redevelopment efforts.  

The client needed a platform that would facilitate quick ramp up of new partners and maintain a centralised and manageable architecture.   

3. The Solution & Approach  

PITS built a scalable multi-tenant White Label architecture without disturbing the existing Stromkonto ecosystem.    

Multi-Tenant Platform Architecture  

We launched a tenant based management solution where Super Admins can register and manage multiple white label partners from a single administration console.  

The solution included:  

  • Tenant onboarding and configuration  

  • Tenant specific branding and customization  

  • Tenant specific user access management  

  • Role-based access control (RBAC)  

  • Customer segregation within a shared database architecture    

White Label Mobile Applications  

The mobile application was enhanced to support:  

  • Custom application names  

  • Tenant specific logos and icons  

  • Custom splash screens  

  • Tenant specific legal documents  

  • Tenant specific support information  

  • Restricted login access to tenant specific applications    

It allowed partners, like Energiekonto, to release their own branded app, without a separate platform implementation.    

Revenue Sharing & Payment Automation  

PITS designed a flexible revenue management framework that integrates with Stripe Connect.  

Key capabilities include:  

  • Tenant specific payment links  

  • Automated customer attribution using payment metadata  

  • Revenue share calculation based on configurable customer tiers  

  • Automated monthly payout processing  

  • Revenue history and payout tracking  

  • Support for future products and services beyond subscriptions  

Bexio Integration  

To support partner specific invoicing requirements:  

  • Tenant specific Bexio accounts were integrated  

  • Separate invoice templates were supported  

  • Tenant-specific IBAN and company information were maintained  

  • Automated invoice routing based on tenant ownership  

IoT and Energy Data Enhancements  

The platform was further enhanced through:  

Real-time telemetry processing via Azure IoT Hub  

Energy balance calculations  

Forecast calculations incorporating historical data  

Electric vehicle consumption modeling  

Smart meter replacement handling  

Enhanced aggregation mechanisms for near real time energy reporting
