VAS AG is a Swiss specialist in geotechnical and structural engineering products, supplying high-quality systems for Geotechnik (geotechnics), Schalungstechnik (formwork technology), Bewehrungstechnik (reinforcement technology), and Spanntechnik (post-tensioning technology). Operating from three Swiss locations - Jona SG, Subingen, and Bex - VAS serves construction, civil engineering, tunnelling, and infrastructure customers across Switzerland and internationally, with its SAS threaded steel bar systems used in landmark projects such as the Panama Canal, the World Trade Center, and major bridge and stadium construction worldwide. To support its sales, warehouse, and accounting operations across this multi-site, technically demanding business, VAS AG engaged PIT Solutions to deliver a tailored Odoo implementation built on Odoo 19.
At the heart of the implementation is the Vas Customization module, which extends Odoo’s core functionality to support VAS’s custom unit of measure (UoM) workflow for products sold by the meter - such as SAS threaded steel bars and rods used in micropiles, soil and rock anchors, tie rods, and post-tensioning systems. A proprietary ‘stk’ (units) and ‘m’ (meters per unit) field pair computes order quantities dynamically, so sales staff can specify the number of bars or rods needed and their length in meters, with the total quantity and line total calculated automatically. The solution covers all major commercial documents - Sale Orders, Delivery Slips, and Invoices - both on-screen and in printed PDF reports, ensuring accuracy and consistency across every transaction for VAS’s technical product range.
Operational efficiency is further enhanced through three additional custom modules: Product Quantity Update, which enables bulk on-hand stock updates across VAS’s entire product catalogue spanning geotechnical anchors, formwork ties, reinforcement bars, and tensioning systems in a single action; Stock Move Line Sections, which ensures that section headers and note lines from sales orders are preserved and rendered on delivery and picking documents so that warehouse staff across all three sites see the same structured layout as the originating sales order; and Web Chatter Position, a UX enhancement that allows each user to independently configure the position of the Odoo chatter panel. Together, these modules deliver a cohesive, role-optimised experience for sales staff, warehouse teams, and accountants alike.
Reflecting VAS’s operations across the Deutschschweiz and Suisse Romande regions, the platform supports full multilingual operation in German (DE) and French (FR), with language selection driven automatically by customer, vendor, and user preferences. All printed reports - Sale Orders, Invoices, Purchase Orders, Delivery Slips, Picking Slips, and Inventory Count Sheets - are generated with consistent branding, precise column structures, and strict template fidelity. The system is deployed on Odoo.sh - Odoo’s managed cloud hosting -with role-based access control, HTTPS encryption, audit trails, and token-based API security ensuring enterprise-grade data protection throughout.
